Bonjour, The March calendar and homework have both been posted on the blog. Today was our field trip to Telus Spark! Thank you to our parent volunteers, it's always great to have you join in our learning and you helped make today go smoothly. I've posted some pictures for you. I apologize, some of them are blurry; it's hard to get a good shot of a kindergarten student on the go haha. Have a wonderful weekend!

Bonjour, Today was Pink Shirt day, we ready a story called Llama Llama and the Bully Goat. Then, we talked about what is bullying and what we can do in situations where bullying is taking place. Afterwards, we brainstormed ideas of how to be a good friend and lift others up. Each student traced and cut out their handprint on pink paper and I wrote their ideas on the hands and put them up on display in the class. We also looked at the sounds for the letters "M' and "O" today and the students did a great job of brainstorming French words that contain each sound! We also added "O" to our list of vowels on the board; the students know that vowels are special letters because their sounds match their names. At the end of the day, I talked to the students about how we will be turning the house centre into a grocery store and we watched a video of a grocery store tour. The students told me what they saw in the video using the sentence starter "

Bonjour, Library day tomorrow, please return all library books in the clear plastic bag if you have not yet done so. For the month of March, we will be discussing food in class and I will be turning our house centre into a grocery store. If you have any empty cereal boxes, yogurt containers, berry containers or anything that might help us make this centre special, please send items to school over the next couple of weeks. Thank you! Today, we finished the homework presentations. Thank you again for practicing with your child at home, it does make a difference in class! We also continued the floor hockey unit in gym class. They are getting pretty good at control the floor hockey balls with their sticks! Today, we also reviewed all of the letter sounds that we've done so far and introduced the letters "M" and "N" Below are some pictures from centre time!   Have a great afternoon!

Bonjour, I hope everyone had a great weekend! Please send library books back to school tomorrow or Wednesday, Wednesday is our nest library day. Today, we had most of our February homework presentations, there are still a few students who have to go tomorrow. Now that the class has gotten used to the format of the homework presentations, we have started introducing feedback and goal setting. We talked as a class about what a good presenter should do and how to give constructive feedback in a way that still feels kind and supportive. After each presentation, I asked the presenter what they felt they could do better on next time and they got to choose one friend to give them some feedback as well. We also did the number  9 in math today. We'll finish up with 10 this week and then move on to shapes next week. Some pictures from centre time for you:
