Bonjour! Tomorrow is a p.d day, there is no school for all students. The February calendar and homework have been posted. During the month of February, we will be talking about our family. The homework will involve showing the class a family picture and talking about who is in the picture. If possible please send a family photo to school next week, we'd like to have them hanging in the class for the month of February so that the students can look at and discuss the photos with their peers. Valentine's day is coming up and we ask that if you choose to send your child to school with valentine cards, that they send a card for every child in the class. We also ask that you do not send any candies or treats with the cards as it is a school policy.  We have 18 students in our class. Below are the first names of each student in case you would like to address the valentines. Arwa Jola Eva Emma Danielle Sylas Evva Meral Avery Gus Callum Maggie Kholton Autumn Broo

Bonjour, Tomorrow is library day, please return all library books in their clear plastic bags. Today, the students wrote "voici un éléphant" in their journals. I did a guided drawing of an elephant for them and they were very excited to show off their artistic abilities with their own drawings. In gym, the students continued their gymnastics unit. They each showed M Trevor their 5-part mat routine and also got to use the large equipment. We also introduced the letter "i" which makes an "ee" sound. We talked about how "i" is one of the special letters (vowels) whose sound is the same as their name. Finally, we added a new sentence to our art centre. The sentence is "J'aime ton dessin", which translates to "I like your drawing". I'm starting to hear some of them use the phrases while talking to each other and it's wonderful!

Bonjour, Yearbook sales are continuing until this Friday, the 31st. If you would like to purchase a yearbook for your child, you can do so for $15 through your powerschool account. The permission slips for our February skating day have gone home. I know that there have been a lot of forms sent home in the last couple weeks, thank you for taking the time to fill them out. Scholastic orders went home today as well. Please submit your online orders before the 6th of February. Thank you! Today, we covered two new letter sounds; "g" and "h". The students have been doing a great job of remembering the letter sounds and their accompanying actions. If you are practicing at home together, the "g" makes a hard g sound like at the beginning of "glue" and the "h" is completely silent in French. Today, we also practiced counting up and down in French from any point between 0 and 10. After our counting warm-up, we did some graphing! Stud

Bonjour, Happy New Year to all of you who celebrated the lunar New Year this weekend! Today, we learned about the number 6 in French. The students practiced writing the number and the word "six" on their lapboards and then moved to the tables to copy their work into their math books. We also practiced representing the number 6 in different ways using our fingers and drawings. In gym class today, the students got to start using some of the larger equipment! The gym period started with a safety demonstration and then the students got to use the equipment at different stations in the gym. Today, I also put up the instructions for some new crafts in the art centre. Over the last couple weeks, students have been asking me to help them draw and make animals. They were thrilled to see what I had put together for them. I loved seeing students put their own unique twists on the crafts! Finally, we started learning a ne
