Hello families,

Our ultimate goal as teachers and parents is to raise lifelong readers.

On Thursday, February 6th at 6:30 pm, parents are invited to Varsity’s first Literacy Night.

Parents and guardians are invited to Join teacher Mme Jennifer McCann for a session covering how children learn to read, what the current research tells us is most effective and important, and how to best support your child.  A question and answer period will follow.

Although this presentation is best suited for parents with students in K-3, anyone is welcome to attend.

Bonjour !

Tomorrow is our presentation day for the January homework! Please practice with your child tonight and send the homework sheet to school with them in their purple folder.


Reminder that tomorrow, we will also be going to the library. Books will be sent home in the clear plastic bags. Please keep the books in the bags, even at home, to ensure that they are not accidentally damaged.

Today, the students wrote "J'aime patiner" ("I like skating") in their journals and we did a guided drawing of a skate. Afterwards, we had gym class, some centre time, and reading buddies! We also took so time to practice for the homework presentations tomorrow and review the sentences that I introduced at the beginning of the week.

Bonjour! I have now posted the November calendar on the blog. I have also created a new page to provide you with the questions for the monthly homework. The questions can be copied and pasted into a word document for printing or written out on another paper. The homework is due on November 25th; please keep the sheet at home and practice with your child until the due date.  If you have any questions, please let me know. Bonjour, Our class is still looking for a volunteer for Friday morning. If you can come, please sign up, it would be greatly appreciated. During our French circle time this morning, we practiced saying how old we are in French, which is a part of this month's homework. Today, we also expanded on our health conversation from yesterday by writing about good health in our journals and drawing at least three different healthy habits. Afterwards, the students had music with Mme Edgett and centre time. During centre time, we did some painting! At the end of the day, I introduced the final three letter sounds, "X", "Y", and "Z". The students were so excited that we've reached the of the alphabet. We will continue practicing letter sound and identifying them in our classroom songs and vocabulary.
