December 4th, 2019

Bonjour,

We will be having an in-class gingerbread making event on December 19th. I have put a list of ingredients on our volunteer sign up sheet here. If you sign up to provide one of these ingredients, please send the ingredients to school with your child on the 18th so that I can have everything set up and ready to go on the 19th. I will post a reminder closer to the day of the event. Thank you for your support in making this event happen, the students are very excited!

Today was another exciting day in room 9. The gingerbread men were hidden a little better than yesterday so it was more of challenge to find them during centre time. I also made a new gingerbread house centre as a surprise and it was a huge hit with the students today! They will be making decorations for it over the next couple weeks.

During our French circle time today, we practiced one of the lines from the homework, "Je célèbre...".  Part of the homework is to talk about something that you celebrate. We have been discussing how our individual cultures are part of what makes us unique, I encouraged students to pick a celebration that is important to their family. Many students said that they have not yet practiced their homework for the month of December yet. The new monthly homework has been posted under the homework tab.

Today, we also wrote in our journals. Students wrote "Voici mon manteau" and drew a picture of their winter jacket. After journals, we had gym class, centres, and continued our gingerbread book study with a story about a gingerbread bear. Finally, we listened to a new song, "Bonjour l'hiver", which you can find here and on the resource page of the blog.
